Brenda Joyce Boyd
I was born in Cleveland but had my formal schooling and education in Falmouth, MA where I graduated at the age of sixteen. I didn’t go to college right I away because upon my return to Ohio I made the choice of becoming a teen bride and a mother, giving birth to the three loves of my life. I have three wonderful children who couldn’t be more different and six grandchildren. Family is first and important to me.
One day I finally decided to listen to my father who believed that there were no such thing as a short cut. My educational journey began when I went to Tri-C to study Early Childhood Education. I went on to teach for a period of about seven years until I one day woke up and decided that a career change was in order that’s when I stumbled onto the steps of Remington College. Remington College did for me what holy water did for humpbacks and cripples.
I left Remington College in 1996 and a have enjoyed a career that has allowed me to work at Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, the Catholic Diocese and North East Pre –Release Center. I have been at the Centers formerly known as the Free Clinic for the past twenty years. My specialty, my niche is HIV/AIDS and BMT.
I enjoy cooking, entertaining and fashion. I totally adore clothes, shoes and a good handbag. My recent accomplishments, obtaining my Bachelors of Science degree while currently trying to finish a Master’s Degree in Health Administration. Last but not least I love to teach. I think I first knew that I wanted to teach when I used to line my dolls and teddy bears up, tie pencils on their paws and hands while writing notes and lesson plans on the board.
Johnny has been an HVAC instructor since 2008, joining the Remington staff in 2015. He has been an HVAC technician for more years than he cares to admit. He enjoys teaching and he loves it when a student grasps a new concept for the first time. He treats all students equally and say hello to all the students as they enter the room. He always tries to have a smile on his face as the day begins. He is the father of 6, and loves to make old things new again, In his spare time, he enjoys making useful items out of pallet wood.
Linda joined the Remington College Faculty team May of 2015. She has been a Registered Radiology Technologist for 16 years and have worked in the clinical field at various facilities in several areas including ER, inpatient, outpatient and Mobile Radiography.

I am originally from Grand Bay, AL. After graduating from Mobile County High School I focused on my family more than a career. I received my Associate of Science Degree in Medical Assisting from Virginia College. I was employed with Springhill Medical Center for 6 years. The office I worked for was a multi-specialty office and I was able to work in several areas, including Family Practice, Pain Management, Industrial Medicine, OBGYN, and Internal Medicine. This allowed me to learn new skills and become more proficient in others. Along with phlebotomy, EKG, limited X-ray, and medication administration, I was certified in drug screen collections for worker’s compensation. After receiving students from local schools to complete their externships in medical assisting, I realized I had a passion for teaching. When a position became available I was thrilled at the opportunity to become a full time instructor with Remington College. Ms. Cox has been in the medical field for approximately 30 years. She began as a lab tech and eventually cross trained as a Medical Assistant. Denise has worked in hospitals, walk-in facilities, and private doctor’s offices and with many specialists.
When she began in the medical field, she was terrified of needles. Denise signed up to become a lab technician, not knowing it involved needles. It was one of those situations that she found herself in and wondered how she got there. She ended up working in a large hospital lab in Louisville, Ky. Each department arrived at 7 am then went to the floors to collect the blood. Denise learned on patients as It was a choice to either sink (fail) or swim (succeed). Even though in the beginning she was terrified, she persevered. Denise became very good at this and was always the go-to person when there was a difficult patient. She’d become so confident and mastered her phlebotomy skills, she had patients that only allowed her to draw their blood.
After a divorce some years ago, she decided to return to school. She attended a technical school like Remington College. It was Keiser University in Daytona Beach, FL. Denise signed up to become a massage therapist and also obtained her associates degree there. This career led her to work a few years at Disney World in one of their spas. Then she found an ad for massage therapy instructor. Later, she applied for the position and they decided that another massage therapy instructor wasn’t needed so weeks later she returned to interview for Medical Assistant instructor position and was hired.
Denise relocated to Houston, TX and had been in the Lone Star state for almost 6 years before she began teaching again. In January 2014, she received a call from Remington College to interview for a Medical Assisting instructor and Mrs. Collins, Campus Dean hired her. She enjoys working for Remington College and most of all she enjoys interacting with her students. A large part of her contribution to the college is to teach the Medical Assisting Fundamentals course, MA 111. Every new student who enters the college has the privilege of learning from Ms. Cox as this is considered the burn ion module.
She never imagined that she would be a teacher as she was often referred to as the shy, sensitive, easily overwhelmed girl from a very small town, Rochester, KY. Denise was recently named Faculty Member of the year (September 2018) for the North Houston Campus and the honor is greatly deserved as she gives her best to the students of Remington College.
